Law Enforcement

EMERGENCY:  CALL 911

Virgin Town is currently provided coverage by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department. The Sheriff’s Department patrols the entire county which includes a population of over 140,000 and is one of the nation’s fastest growing counties.

Their mission is to respect our community’s diversity by serving all people fairly and equitably as we relentlessly pursue those who commit crimes against the members of our community. With a relatively low crime rate, Washington County has been recognized as one of Utah’s safest counties to live in.

Responsibilities:

The Washington County Sheriff’s Department is responsible for responding to citizen calls for assistance, patrolling Washington County, investigating traffic accidents, taking initial reports, criminal investigations and other law enforcement functions.

The department exists to preserve the public peace, prevent crime, detect and arrest offenders, protect persons and property, remove nuisances existing in the public streets, roads, highways and other public places, enforce every law relating to offenses, render assistance and perform all duties enjoined upon them by law and ordinance.

Historically recorded challenges, and threats posed by modern technology or terrorism, must all be anticipated as we work to maintain our great quality of life in the beautiful but ever changing landscape we call home.
