Hurricane Valley Fire District

The Town of Virgin has contracted with the Hurricane Valley Fire District (HVFD) to respond to all fire related issues and emergencies.

Below you will find all the information needed for an emergency, a burn permit or just contact information should you have questions.

Hurricane Valley Fire District

The Hurricane Valley Fire District proudly serves the communities of Hurricane, La Verkin, Leeds, Rockville, Springdale, Toquerville, Virgin and the adjoining unincorporated area of Washington County and serves a 563 square mile area. Its mission is to prevent, prepare for, and provide emergency response in a respectful, professional manner.

Public Safety – Fire Prevention

In these extremely dry times, fire prevention and safety should be a priority for each member of our community.  A great deal of useful information is available on the internet to help you become better informed on how to protect your property and prevent the ignition of wildfires.

Controlled Burn Season

None at this time.

Burn Permit Information

Permits can be obtained that allow residents to burn debris only at specific times of the year.  This is set by the State of Utah and usually runs from September 15th through November 15th, and then March 1st through May 30th.  In order to burn, you must obtain a permit.  This permit can be found at the link below.  You are still responsible for any reckless burning or any fire that gets out of control.
