  • Garbage collection fees are assessed on the monthly utility bill from the Town. The current garbage collection rate is $17.11 per month (effective January 2021). Garbage collection rates increase every two years.

If you are looking for your curbside schedule for trash and/or recycling, please go to Washington County Solid Waste District and click on schedule.

Commercial Service

Commercial garbage collection must be arranged and paid for directly to a local service of choice by the business.

Dumpster Days

"Dumpster Days" come periodically and are announced in the town's newsletter and placed on the town calendar; residents are invited to haul their waste to a designated site where the town has placed large dumpsters.

Local Tranfer Station (Dump) and County Landfill

Virgin also has a waste transfer station owned by the Washington County Solid Waste District located at 300 North Kolob Terrace Road.  You may want to call 435-635-3030 first to check hours and see if your load will be accepted.  The transfer station is generally intended to serve people up Kolob Terrace Road or otherwise in this part of the county who do not have regular pickup of trash at their homes.

LOADS IN EXCESS OF TWO 95 GALLON GARBAGE CANS AT THE TRANSFER STATION MAY BE TURNED AWAY.  THE PURPOSE OF OUR TRANSFER STATION IS TO PROVIDE FOR PROPERTIES THAT DO NOT HAVE CURBSIDE PICKUP.  ANY EXCESS WASTE CAN BE TAKEN TO THE LANDFILL IN WASHINGTON.

For large loads or questionable items, there is also the Washington County Landfill at 325 North Landfill Road, Washington, UT; call 435-674-7623 for more information or visit their website.
